Vince Johnson was born in Richfield, Minnesota. He grew up in Burnsville and Stacy, Minnesota. He attended Golden Valley Lutheran College for a year before transferring to St. Cloud State University (SCSU), where he graduated in 1984 with a double major in Speech Communication and Psychology, specializing in Chemical Dependency Counseling.
Vince was blessed with parents who valued going to church and believing in God, but Vince did not understand the atoning death of Christ until his sophomore year at SCSU. God’s regenerating work in Vince’s heart through the Word of God spoken and read made him alive in Christ. Over the next three years, God planted in Vince a love for evangelism, discipleship, and global outreach through Bible study and practical ministry.
Vince met his wife, Kathy, in 1983 on a Campus Crusade for Christ Summer Project in Chicago. Both were captured by God’s grace while in college and grew to love student ministry.
They married in 1985 and moved to Chicago to attend seminary. In 1987, Vince & Kathy began serving on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ (now Cru). They have served assignments in Ohio (5 years), in Turkey (4 years), at the U of M (1 year), and the Upper Midwest Regional Office (12 years).
Vince & Kathy have been members of Bethlehem since January 1997. For several years, they have encouraged marriages and families through teaching a class at Bethlehem on parenting teens. The Johnsons have three children: Brooke, Reid, and Brenna.
