Nathan Metcalf is a native of Illinois. He was blessed with a godly mother who was committed to raising her children in a God-honoring way, though Natan’s father was not following Christ at the time. When Nathan was in grade school, he came to understand what it meant to love Jesus, and he wanted to obey him. However, it wasn’t until late middle school that Nathan realized what it meant to truly live for God, not just as someone who attended church, but as a fully committed and surrendered follower of King Jesus. Despite this love for Jesus, Nathan still had his own wishes and desires. During the last year of high school, he wrestled with his clear call to youth ministry and his own desire to join the Air Force. It was during that year that the Lord brought a change of heart through a physical injury that pointed Nathan on the path of ministry from which he has never looked back.

Nathan attended Columbia International University in South Carolina where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Youth Ministry and Bible (2006), and an MA in Theology with an emphasis in leadership (2017). This is also where Nathan met his wife Sarah (Power), a native of Eagan, Minnesota, and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. They were married in 2005.

Years before, Nathan’s ministry work had begun in 2001 with camp ministry. During college, he served as both a youth ministry intern and as Youth Director. After graduating from college, Nathan & Sarah moved to Minnesota where they served with at-risk teenagers for a few years before the love for church ministry called Nathan back into the pursuit of a youth pastor position. Nathan & Sarah moved to Kansas where Nathan served a youth pastor for about six years.

Following this role, the Metcalfs returned to Minnesota and the Lord sent Nathan in a direction outside of youth ministry, where he worked in sales and management roles. The Lord used this time to give Nathan & Sarah a deeper understanding of his character, his love, and his plan for his children, and to foster within them dependency on him. During this time, Nathan also served in a volunteer role in youth ministry at Bethlehem.

In 2019, the Lord brought Nathan back into a ministry role as the middle school Bible teacher at Christian Heritage Academy (Lakeville). For the last two years, the Lord has graciously utilized Nathan’s heart for the word of God, youth, and discipleship as the all-school Bible teacher, chaplain, and Development Director at the school.

Nathan has a natural heart for youth ministry and a desire to serve in a shepherding role with youth and their parents—something he is passionate about and desires to do for the rest of his life, if the Lord so leads. Nathan & Sarah are delighted to continue to see how the Lord will lead, guide, and direct them and their sons (Derek and Owen) as a family to fulfill their mission of walking the narrow road after Christ (Matthew 7:14).
