Discussion Questions

• What is the overall structure of Acts 2?
• In Acts 2:43, what were some of the defining characteristics of the early church community?
• Verse 43 says that the early church had a sustained sense of awe. What is awe? Where else does this word show up in Acts?
• Why is it significant that the specific phrase “wonders and signs” appears for the third time in Acts 2? (Acts 2:19, 22, 43) What is the relationship between those three texts?
• What were some of the wonders and signs that Jesus did through the apostles in the rest of the book of Acts?
• How does “awe” play a part in creation, fall, redemption, and consummation?

Application Questions

• What are some of the things you have pursued recently that you can now recognize as a quest for awe? How could you respond in a way that remembrance awe would lead to worship awe?  
• How do you need to respond to misplaced attempts to find awe? How can this be part of your sanctification and growth in grace? How can you use both creation mnemonics and new creation mnemonics in order have a sustained sense of awe in Jesus?

Pray for a grace to be in awe of Jesus and to stay in awe of Jesus.
