*Dynamics of Biblical Change is a prerequisite for this course.

Register by April 17. To learn more, contact Pastor Bryan Pickering or Stephanie Denzer.

Course Instructor: Mike Emlet
On-Site Recitation Instructor: Bryan Pickering

Counseling Observation Course Description
What does actual counseling look like? It’s one thing to learn about biblical counseling through reading books and listening to a lecture, but it’s quite another to learn by actually seeing it done. You’ll have the opportunity to observe various CCEF counselors and faculty members as they counsel actual cases. You’ll experience the unscripted, unpredictable, and often messy aspects of face-to-face personal ministry, and be introduced to the artfulness, skill, and utter dependency on the Spirit that is needed to counsel wisely. Class discussion will focus on topics that arise out of each counseling session, and you’ll learn how to make effective progress notes to document your own counseling sessions.

Students will watch lectures, read materials, and write papers at home, and then meet together every other Thursday face-to-face as a cohort to discuss lecture content, readings, and other questions about how to do biblical counseling more effectively. Come take advantage of this unique opportunity!

This course is taught at a graduate level, though you do not need any prior degrees to participate. Courses can be taken for credit, or they can be audited. Auditing is less expensive, but taking the courses for credit allows the Recitation Instructor to provide feedback on all assignments, which facilitates growth and understanding for each of the students. The tuition is $385 if taken for credit, and $300 if audited.
