Deacon; Administrative Assistant for Women's Ministry

Deacon Candidate Cynthia McGill

  1. Share your testimony. How did God draw you to faith in Christ?
I was raised in a Christian home where we attended church regularly. I participated in youth programs, became a member, and completed confirmation, but I was not a believer yet. Following high school, I chose the “wide road” of sin and through many bad decisions and wrong relationships I mocked God, alienated my family, and birthed a child. During those hard years, Jesus protected me and revealed himself to me many times. I believe those hard experiences were laid out as a counterpoint to his perfection and real love for me. The Lord kept me through those years and into college. At the age of 24, he opened my eyes, ears, and heart to see and know my sin and guilt before his perfect holy requirement. I was drawn to and accepted his perfect sacrifice on the cross as the propitiation for my sins. The Lord reconciled me to my family and led me to faithful, Bible-believing churches where I was able to grow in faith, receive biblical teaching and, thus enabled, to serve the church.
  2. Why do you want to be a deacon?
Coming to Bethlehem Baptist Church in 1995 was a gift, like a “refreshing” of my faith. I am grateful for the teaching from God’s word and training that I have received at Bethlehem. I look forward to giving back and serving the church as a deacon, if approved.
  3. Are you currently serving Bethlehem Baptist Church in a ministry area?
I have served children by teaching in Sunday School. I have served women through the Women’s Ministry as a Bible study teacher. I am part of a small group, have hosted Meetups, served a Titus 2 mentor, served on the Titus 2 planning committee, and served as a greeter/usher. I currently work part time at Bethlehem Baptist as an administrative assistant for the Women’s Ministry.
