South Campus Building Project Update #9
From Jon Hendricks, Chair of the South Campus Building Committee ...
The South Campus building is rapidly taking shape.
Looking at the entire site, one can see that much of the excess soil has been claimed and hauled away. The parking lots have been shaped, and much of the base layer for the asphalt has been installed. The next steps will be to pour concrete for curbs/sidewalks and to construct the two-tiered boulder retaining walls.
The exterior of the building also shows progress. With the exception of east and southwest entries, all the glass has been put in place and scaffolding removed.
Inside the building, all the floors have been poured, the main stairwell is built, and most of the upper level walls have been painted. Bethlehem’s Media and IT staff have been busy overseeing the installation of conduit, construction of the sound booth and video room, and pulling of wires and cables.
Meanwhile, a kitchen equipment supplier has been selected and equipment ordered. Carpets have been ordered. Our interior designer is making final color recommendations for gymnasium walls, court lines, and supporting structure for the basketball hoops.
Remaining site work steps includes final grading of the site, installing exterior lighting, planting trees and bushes, putting down sod, and laying parking lot asphalt.
As we near the end of this project, it’s becoming apparent that not all the work will be completed in the original time frame we had anticipated. Lord willing, we’ll have our first worship service in the building on Sunday, September 30 (instead of mid-month).
Please continue to pray for this aspect of our “Fill These Cities: 25 x 25” vision. Pray also that each of us—with hearts grateful for what the Lord has done in our lives—will be generous givers as we endeavor to strengthen the core, plant 25 new churches, and engage 25 unengaged people groups with the gospel by 2025. All this to make Jesus’ name known and glorified!
