South Campus Building Project Update #2
From Jon Hendricks, Chair of the South Campus Building Committee ...
The South Campus Building Committee submitted our Sketch Plan for review by Lakeville staff in April. The plan was simply a broad overview of the project: The size of building, where the building would sit on the property, the number and location of parking spaces, the contours of the land, the general locations of water retention ponds, etc.
The city’s feedback in May indicated no serious shortcomings with our plans, which gave us the green light to proceed in developing more in-depth civil engineering work: Calculation of water run-off rates; designing two storm-water ponds and filtration basin; determining the volume of dirt to be moved; plans for grading and drainage, erosion and sediment control; and determining locations for water and sewer lines, etc.
That work was completed and submitted with our applications for a preliminary plat, final plat, and conditional use permit on June 8.
It was then we learned when our project would get a hearing before the Lakeville Planning Commission. Lakeville has many other development projects in the works and so, unfortunately, our hearing date is scheduled for August. A likely project start date is now October. This reminds me that though we have our own plans, it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand (Proverbs 21:19)
Please pray that all parties involved in this process would move along with as much speed as possible. Pray also that our project is welcomed by neighbors, and that subcontractors are able to accommodate our project’s schedule. A long, dry Fall would also be helpful for getting the building enclosed before winter conditions set in.
Thank you for partnering with us in reaching communities south of the river with the Good News that through faith in Jesus, we can have peace with God.
