South Building Project Update #8
From Jon Hendricks, Chair of the South Campus Building Committee ...
Construction of our South Campus building is moving along nicely, despite two April snowstorms.
On April 12, we had the first pouring of cement inside the building. After completing the mezzanine (upper) floor, other tradesmen were able to start their work. Electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and the HVAC subcontractor have all been busy—erecting metal stud wall frames, stringing electric conduit, and installing ductwork for heating and air conditioning.
On May 7, workers poured cement in the the east wing of the building, which houses the nursery rooms and offices. Soon, the tradesmen will be busy in that area as well. Workers also poured cement to create the gymnasium floor on May 7.
Looking ahead, the building is expected to be enclosed by the end of May. The last areas of the building to receive the cement floor are on the main level—the sanctuary, kitchen, classrooms, entry, etc. This should also be completed by the end of May.
All walls are expected to have their sheetrock in place by the end of June. Our building completion date is still anticipated to be early September, and we are grateful that we remain on schedule, despite this winter’s cold, snowy weather requiring additional work that exceeded our budget for “winter conditions.”
Please continue to pray for ...
- God-honoring interactions with all involved.
- Safety of all involved.
- Decision-making wisdom as we meet with our general contractor and his team each week, and give direction on how best to use resources provided for maximum ministry effectiveness in our new South Campus building.
Thank you for your prayers. They are appreciated!
