Marybelle Kim and Abbey Kolacz are Assistant Counselors from the Downtown and North campuses at Bethlehem’s Jr High Camp at Camp Shetek in Slayton, MN. Enjoy their reports and use them to keep Bethlehem’s 6–8th graders in your prayers this week!
Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
—Philippians 3:12–14
Hello from Camp Shetek!
The week has been flying by; it is already mid week! Campers are having a blast despite rain that has been falling off and on all week. The Program Team has been working hard to help the campers embrace the weather, even making a makeshift slip ‘n’ slide! Despite the weather, we have still been able to play some favorite Shetek games, such as Safari and Smuggler's Run. The mud adds an interesting twist to these classics!
Story Update: The Program Team has been unsuccessfully attempting to bring the Olympians to Camp, instead sending them on adventures to Ireland and Japan where the Olympians faced their greatest fears. Frustrated, the Program Team has sent the transporter back to the manufacturer for extensive repairs. But the competition between countries continues here at Camp! Currently, Team Japan is in the lead with Team Cambodia close behind. Team Ireland is in third place and Team Ecuador in fourth.
The campers have been enjoying sweet worship with Daniel Simmons and teaching from Pastor Daniel Viezbicke. On Monday night, Daniel focused on taking on the burden of love and emphasized how Jesus offers us his burden, which is easy and light. On Tuesday night, Daniel discussed the humility of Christ and how we are called to imitate Christ in this way. We praise the Lord for the way the Spirit has been moving during this time in the Word so that multiple students have come to Christ. Would you continue to pray ...
Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
