Global Outreach Update 2: Global Focus 2019

Brad Nelson

Pastor for Global Outreach

With the Fall comes the change of colors—and Global Focus! This year’s theme is Let the Nations Be Glad: Worship and Missions.

Pastor John Piper will be our guest preacher on Sunday, November 3. Many years ago, Pastor John wrote something that has changed people’s understanding of missions. That short phrase is “Missions exists because worship doesn’t.” We want to see more and more worshipers from every tribe and tongue and people group. That is why we send out global partners and go on short-term ministry trips.

Join us for various events taking place during Global Focus 2019, October 23 – November 3:

Bethlehem College & Seminary Chapel Service: Global Focus

Wednesday, Oct 23, Noon–1pm, Downtown Campus
All are invited to join Bethlehem College & Seminary students and faculty for a Global Focus themed chapel service. Well worship together and hear from alumnus Daniel Souza, who has recently served as a global partner in Brazil.

Global Focus Meal & Kickoff

Wednesday, Oct 23, 5–8pm, Downtown Campus
We are celebrating Global Focus with an all-church evening meal and service. The meal will be served 5–6:30pm (cost is $4/adult, $3/child, or $15/family). Following the meal, we will worship together, enjoy songs with guest ensemble “29:11,” and hear stories from the ministries of five global partners who are serving around the world.

Let Your Kingdom Come on Earth:
Life in a Multicultural Church

As we think about worship and missions, Pastor Chuck Steddom will lead this seminar on multicultural worship.

Bethlehem College & Seminary Chapel Service: Global Focus

Table Talk: Live (Hosted by Bethlehem College & Seminary)

Saturday, Nov 2, 9–11am, Downtown Campus
As part of their 10-year anniversary celebration, Bethlehem College & Seminary is hosting a Table Talk-style panel in front of a live audience. In order to complement our church’s focus on the nations, the hosts will intentionally guide this conversation with Pastor John Piper and Dr. Albert Mohler toward global missions in order to show how the school plays a role in taking the gospel to the nations.

Worship Services

Sunday, Nov 3, all campuses
Our Global Focus guest preacher, Pastor Emeritus John Piper, will give the second of the two Global Focus messages.

Ministry Trip Info Meetings

Sunday, Nov 3, all campuses
Join the Global Outreach team for an info meeting at your campus to learn about opportunities to join a ministry trip in 2020. Each year trips are strategically planned to support and encourage our global partners and other ministries around the world—and you can take part in this ministry!

Missions in the Manse/Main Hall

Sunday, Nov 3, 3–5pm, various locations
Those who are sensing God’s call to go to the nations in long-term, cross-cultural missions are invited to gather at campus-specific locations. Come meet with Global Outreach staff, pastors, and global partners to pray together and be encouraged.

We hope you’ll join us and bring family and friends to these various events as we focus on God’s global mission to exalt his name among the nations.
